About the Program

Made possible by generous donations from Braman Family Charitable Foundation and The Batchelor Foundation, Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine launched the Linda Fenner 3D Mobile Mammography Center (LFMMC) in November 2014. The LFMMC offers free breast health screening, health education, and navigation services for women without access to care in Miami-Dade County. We provide services in collaboration with organizations, including the health department, federally qualified health centers, cancer support and advocacy groups, places of worship, and shelters for people experiencing homelessness. Together with our community partners, we aim to make a significant impact in the fight against breast cancer and reduce breast cancer in South Florida.

For more information or an appointment please call 305-FIU-PINK (348-7465). All are welcomed and will be cared by the LFMMC healthcare team!

3D Mammography

The most exciting advancement in mammography in over 30 years

Doctors and scientists agree that early detection is the best defense against breast cancer. Successful treatment and survival rates for breast cancer patients are dramatically affected by early detection of breast cancers. If we find breast cancer early, before it has spread to lymph nodes, the five-year survival rate is almost 100 percent.

Breast Tomosynthesis

What is 3D mammography?

3D mammography is a new technology in the fight against breast cancer that allows doctors to examine your breast tissue one layer at a time. 3D mammography uses high-powered computing to convert digital breast images into a stack of very thin layers or "slices"– building what is essentially a "3-dimensional mammogram".
