Made possible by generous donations from Braman Family Charitable Foundation, the Batchelor Foundation, and various organizations and individuals who believe in our program, the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine opened the Linda Fenner 3D Mobile Mammography Center (LFMMC) in November 2014. The Mobile Mammography Center is named in honor of Linda Fenner, who died from breast cancer in 2005 and was Irma Braman's sister. To celebrate Linda's legacy and commitment to community service, we have performed over 5,000 free screening mammograms for uninsured women in Miami-Dade County.
In memory of Linda Fenner
Linda Fenner lived a life of purpose and meaning. She embodied one of her favorite quotes: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away." She also believed that although we cannot change what happens to us, we can control how we deal with adversity. And so, Linda bravely fought breast cancer for 16 years while dedicating time and effort to lifting those around her.
Linda was passionate about many things, big and small—her family, her dogs, golf, tennis, cooking, art, gardening, theater, travel. Helping the community was another passion—she worked for and supported many causes dear to her heart. Linda's dedication to the Jewish community earned her the 2005 Golda Meir Award. And as an ardent crusader in the fight against breast cancer, she provided fundraising and support for breast cancer research and survivors.
The Linda Fenner 3D Mobile Mammography Center honors Linda's beautiful legacy. In 2014, the Braman Family Foundation joined the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine to launch the mobile mammography center to offer free breast cancer screenings to uninsured women in Miami-Dade County. With their commitment and support in memory of their beloved Linda, Norman and Irma Braman are ensuring these women have access to mammograms that could save their lives.
